- Per Tim Gilbert
B&M #69999 was built new as B&O 384192 in 1940, and was rebuilt by the Concord [NH] shops in 1943 as part of the war effort. Unlike the second #64680 which the East Deerfield shops rebuilt in 1943, #69999 was given a separate line in the ORERs. This was due to the different size of its truck axle journal bearings, 5½" x 10", than its step-sisters, the #73000s. Indeed, the #69999 was the first boxcar the B&M owned that had 5½" x 10" journals which gave the #69999 that capability to carry 119,600 pounds which, in turn, made it the first B&M box to exceed the theoretical load limit of the #11000 series built in 1900.In 1955, to make room for the #69700-70987 series of the former #71000s, the car was renumbered to #68999. The #68999 was off the roster by 1965 [actually, by 1/1964].
